Keep your distance and don't encourage into water
A seal pup has been spotted on Laxey beach this morning (Wednesday 10 January).
This is normal behaviour, as they sometimes need time to rest.
The Manx Wildlife Trust's advice to people is to keep their distance, and not to encourage it back into the water - he - or she - will go back when they are ready.
The charity has a number of volunteer 'Seal Sitters' around the Isle of Man who keep an eye on the animals.
If you ever have any concerns about a seal or pup's health, or believe they are at risk of disturbance on busy public beaches, you're asked to call the charity on 844 432 during office hours or send them a Facebook message.
The young seal is located close to the steps on Laxey Beach at the harbour jetty end.
Avoid using the steps and be careful if walking dogs in the area.
