Three-day walkout started early this morning
Postal workers have gone ahead with strike action after a day of talks to resolve the dispute over terms and condition broke down.
The three-day walk out, which began only hours ago, was tabled by the Communications Worker's Union late last month, in the hope of a compromise from the Post Office board.
The news was met with disappointment from Post Office chiefs who reaffirmed their position to implement 'financially responsible changes'.
During the discussions, CWU Deputy General Secretary for Postal, Terry Pullinger, lodged counter proposals, but says they were met with 'very little movement.'
When asked if there was any progress from the talks with board members, Mr Pullinger had this response:
The picket line now runs in the industrial estate in Braddan and falls on Valentines day, one of the post office's busiest dates on the calendar.
Normal service is expected to resume on Monday (18 Feb).
