Senior Race Day public holiday removed
The bank holiday scheduled for senior race day has now been moved to the end of August, government has confirmed.
The Council of Ministers met this morning to finalise the decision.
Last week the chief minister told the daily media conference the public holiday had been cancelled, as there is no TT this year.
Since then a petition was created from the Manx public, rallying to reinstate the annual holiday.
Government has now come to a sort of compromise moving the date from 12 June, to 28 August - however the health minister says this decision had nothing to do with the petition and had been planned for some time.
When asked about this decision at a sitting of the Public Accounts Committee on Friday, Minister Skelly suggested a replacement bank holiday was being considered.
At a meeting of the Council of Ministers this morning, it was confirmed the public holiday would now take place on 28 August.
