A church in the Isle of Man is holding a special service this evening (Thursday) to remember those who lost their lives on theĀ Ellan Vannin.
The Steam Packet vessel sankĀ in violent seas just off the coast of Liverpool 100 years ago today, with the loss of all 35 people on board.
Our Lady Star of the Sea and St Maughold Roman Catholic church on the promenade in Ramsey is holding a mass service at 7.30pm.
It has a special reason to mark the tragedy, as local historian Peter Kelly explains:
