A seventh candidate is to stand for election in Ayre and Michael in September.

Steve Curphey is currently chair of Ballaugh Parish Commissioners.

Among his priorities will be government reform at a local and national level, fairer taxation and health service budgetary control.

Steve says: "My decision to stand is rooted in a simple belief: politics must remain close to the people it serves.

"Too many residents feel that decision-making has become distant from everyday life, and that government has too often been reactive when it should have been proactive.

"I believe Ayre and Michael, and the Isle of Man as an independent nation, deserve representation that is accessible, accountable, and prepared to lead with purpose and compassion."

Also standing in the constituency are Julia Bell, Stephen Broad, Alfred Cannan, Tim Johnston, Mary Phillips and Paul Weatherall.

The General Election is taking place on Thursday 24 September.
