A paedophile, whose last address was given as Strang in the Isle of Man, has been jailed for nine years after admitting a string of attacks on children in the United Kingdom.
Sixty-three year old Alan Scholey admitted 13 indecent assaults, three rapes and two attempted rapes, carried out more than 20 years ago in North Lincolnshire and Grimsby.
His victims were all girls under the age of 13, and his crimes only came to light in 2004.
As well as the jail sentence, Scholey will be on the sex offender’s register for the rest of his life.
Jason Roberts reports (text, below, from attached audio file):
One victim told the court Scholey kissed her full on the mouth when she was just seven years old. He later raped her.
John Boumphrey, defending, said Scholey deeply regretted his crimes and was unlikely to reoffend.
He read a letter from Scholey’s teenage son who said he understood his father had to be jailed but appealed for leniency.
Sentencing him at Grimsby Crown Court, Judge Graham Robinson described the attacks as 'dreadful sexual offences.'
