Port St Mary Commissioners join southern housing list
Port St Mary Commissioners have agreed to join the shared southern housing list, the last local authority in the area to take part.
The initiative allows tenants to apply for social housing in separate areas across the Island, rather than just one village, which gives them more choice.
The Board had reservations about taking part in the project when it was first launched, and initially kept its 122 properties out of the scheme.
Since this time Port St Mary Commissioners now believe the shared lists are working well, and say it now made sense to sign up.
The village adds its local housing stock to the list shared with Arbory, Castletown, Malew, Port Erin, Rushen, and Santon.
New and existing applicants will be placed on the scheme.
