Housing group announces new plans
A new initiative between local authorities is set to change the way social housing is allocated in the north of the Island.
A shared housing waiting list for the entire region will be collated by the Northern Area Housing Working Group.
The scheme covers properties in Ramsey, Ballaugh, Jurby, Bride, Andreas, Lezayre and Maughold.
It's being managed by the Commissioners alongside the Department of Infrastructure.
Applicants will now be able to apply for houses in specific locations, in a move described as 'a modernisation of the service'.
Michelle Quayle of Ramsey Town Commissioners says the new system will 'transform the allocation process'.
