
A Manx advocate has rubbished claims by a UK newspaper that Sharia law could come into effect in British courts.
The Daily Mail published an article on Monday stating that EU judges want divorce proceedings throughout Europe to be heard in the law of any country the couple is closely connected to - which would include Sharia law.
Sharia law is the religious law of Islam, based on the acts of the prophet Muhammad.
However, advocate John Wright doesn't think we'll be seeing Sharia law on the Isle of Man in the near future.
