Fourteen incidents in July alone
The number of attacks on police officers whilst on duty has risen over the past five years.
Prior to 2020, the most recorded attacks in a single month stood at seven, whereas there were 11 incidents in March, 14 in July, and nine in August.
Data from the Department of Home Affairs has been shared to Tynwald in a written response to a question from Arbory, Castletown and Malew MHK Jason Moorhouse.
Overall there have been 46 recorded attacks this year so far, and if the current trend continues, 2020 could surpass the highest total of 54 in 2018*.
