Ramsey woman given probation order after admitting stealing from several shops
A shoplifter has been urged to take the help available to her after being caught stealing from several shops.
Christine Ann Metaxas of Waverley Terrace in Ramsey was given a six-month probation order after admitting three charges of theft.
She previously pleaded guilty to stealing a candle and rosemary plant from retailers in Ramsey in September last year, as well as clothing, groceries and alcohol from Marks & Spencer in Douglas on 21 March this year - all goods were retrieved in a saleable order.
The court heard she was unable to give an explanation as to why she steals things, but she is aware she has a problem and needs help.
Giving her a six-month probation order, Magistrates told the 53-year-old it's not their job to set her up to fail, but she needs to engage and take the probation service's help.
