But supermarket boss says retailers may be protecting customers
A local supermarket boss says the Isle of Man’s rising inflation rate has not yet significantly changed local shoppers’ buying habits.
But Co-op area manager Andy Corrie says people are becoming increasingly aware of rising prices on the shelves.
He also believes that where possible, major retailers are currently protecting consumers by absorbing some of the wholesale price increases.
The Island’s inflation rate stood at 8.1 per cent in May – Mr Corrie says if it rises again he expects people’s habits will differ:
