More than £500K revealed as fraudulently obtained
There is a significant amount of benefit fraud happening on the Island but Treasury is doing the best it can to tackle it.
That's according to a member with responsibility for the Social Security Division within the department.
A Freedom of Information request revealed just over £550,000 of the total £291.96 million spent was identified as fraud - which amounts to 0.19-percent.
Sarah Maltby told Manx Radio in the last financial year they've received 362 allegations of benefit fraud and off that 16 people were prosecuted.
She says while the figure is higher than previous years, it is a minority of people:
