Calls for a feasibility study
Creating a single record on each Isle of Man resident could streamline the way members of the public interact with government.
That idea will be tested in a feasibility study on reducing the number of records held by public bodies on Manx citizens.
At present, personal information on residents is kept on around 60 main databases used in 200 separate systems across government.
Proposals to carry out a study on forming a single resident record will be brought to Tynwald by the Policy and Reform Minister Chris Thomas.
He says it's not about the wholesale collection and sharing of personal details across government - but a single, standard set of basic information about each individual:
