The lieutenant governor addressed Tynwald this morning (Tuesday) as he attended his last sitting of the court.
Sir Paul and Lady Haddacks arrived in the Isle of Man in October 2005 and have stayed an extra six months prior to the arrival of the new governor who will officially take up his role next month.
Adam Wood will be sworn-in at Castle Rushen, on April 7.
Sir Paul told the court he felt the five year term was correct for the post and over the years he had spent here there were many things he had come to appreciate about the Island (first part of audio file):
Sir Paul said also paid tribute to the Island's Civil Servants and said the Isle of Man remained a well governed jurisdiction which was an excellent place to live (second part of audio file):
