Douglas lifeboat to make final departure
Douglas lifeboat, Sir William Hillary, will depart Douglas Harbour for the final time tomorrow (17 Aug).
Named after the founder of the Royal National Lifeboat Institution, she's been in service in Manx waters for three decades, after arriving on 25 November 1988.
During that time, the Tyne class all-weather vessel has been launched 337 times, aiding 417 people.
Douglas RNLI station mechanic, Tony Radcliffe, says there have been significant developments in lifeboats since she entered service.
She will be departing for the final time at 11am on Friday.
