42-year-old was almost four times over the legal limit
A Douglas woman has been banned from the road for six years after crashing her car on the Mountain Road whilst drunk.
Hannah Clare Lewis, of Eairy Veg, lost control of her Skoda – near Windy Corner - and had to be recovered from a ditch on 25 March.
Tests showed she was almost four times over the legal limit after drinking a bottle of vodka before getting behind the wheel.
At Douglas Courthouse the 42-year-old’s advocate said her client had been in a ‘difficult headspace’ at the time.
“The incident, and the trouble she has found herself in, is a significant wake up call,” she added.
Ordering Lewis to do 200 hours of community service High Bailiff Jayne Hughes described the reading as ‘extremely high’ telling her: “You must have known you weren’t safe to drive.”
Lewis will also have to take an extended driving test and drink drive rehabilitation course and pay prosecution costs of £125.
