Sixteen stand for seat on Legislative Council

Three MLCs seeking re-election

Sixteen people are standing for a seat on the Legislative Council.

The deadline for proposals closed today.

Four MLC vacancies will open up on Friday 28 February for a term of office ending on 28 February 2030.

Of those now confirmed to be standing; three are existing MLCs seeking re-election.

They are:

Bill Henderson (proposed by David Ashford MHK; seconded by John Wannenburgh MHK and supported by Ann Corlett MHK and Kate Lord-Brennan MHK), Rob Mercer (proposed by Kate Lord-Brennan MHK; seconded by Daphne Caine MHK and supported by Jane Poole-Wilson MHK and Tim Johnston MHK), and Kerry Sharpe (proposed by Rob Callister MHK; seconded by David Ashford MHK and supported by Daphne Caine MHK and Kate Lord-Brennan MHK).

Elsewhere, the new names are:
