Outgoing warden to mark anniversary
Bird life enthusiasts will be treated to an anniversary lecture from the outgoing warden of the Calf of Man tonight.
Aron Sapsford, who has been responsible for monitoring and ringing the resident populations of birds over 2018's spring to autumn season, will be giving an illustrated talk to mark 60 years of the Calf as an observatory.
Along with migrant and sea bird species, the nature reserve is noted for its Manx Shearwater breeding colony.
The observatory programme which began in 1959 gained official accreditation in 1962.
This evening's event, which is open to the public, is hosted by the Manx Ornithological Society and will begin at 7.15pm at the Methodist Chapel in Union Mills.
