A downed power line brought the MER to a standstill between Laxey and Ramsey this afternoon (Thursday).
A skip wagon ran into the overhead line at Walpole Road in Ramsey, cutting power supplies.
A recovery operation was under way (4.30pm) but the road was blocked and drivers were being asked to avoid the area.
The MER said trams would run between Douglas and Laxey only for the rest of the day.
