£600k 'live' demo suite unveiled
A new training complex for the Island's firefighters was unveiled this afternoon.
The 'live fire' site offers a realistic training experience for Isle of Man Fire and Rescue Service crews, with exercises including fighting fully developed fires and advanced rescue techniques.
Whilst the facility has cost the Manx government £600,000, it's hoped it will save £50,00 a year by cutting off-Island training costs.
It also means fire services will remain fully staffed all year round.
Speaking at the official opening, Chief Fire Officer Kevin Groom says the site's versatility is limited only by their imagination:
