New Year message from fire services
As we head into the new year, fire services are reminding people of the importance of having smoke alarms fitted - and ensuring they're working.
There have been two blazes over the Christmas period caused by unattended cooking, where smoke alarms alerted householders to the fire - and almost certainly saved lives.
Station Officer Mark Caley says it may be a familiar message - but it remains a vital one:
