Preventing people from smoking at outdoor children's play areas will bring benefits, according to an expert on the subject.
The Island's public health tobacco strategy co-ordinator, Anita Imberger, is welcoming Douglas Borough Council's plan to put up signs asking people not to light up in such areas.
The move has come after some parents complained about people smoking so close to young children, and the council says if there is no response it may bring in new bye-laws to enforce the rules.
