Trials resolve brake monitoring issue
Health and safety inspectors suspended the service when trams exceeded a reduced maximum speed limit of 8 miles per hour - which had been imposed while a safety review is carried out.
However, speeds were successfully monitored during trials this morning, and the Health and Safety at Work Inspectorate has lifted its 'stop' notice.
Monitoring equipment to prevent the trams running at their usual speed limit - 12 mph - has been checked and declared effective.
The review was ordered after a brake failure on a carriage during a descent from Snaefell summit a week ago today.
