Ramsey man admits breaching ban and stealing two cars
A man’s admitted defying a driving ban by getting behind the wheel of two stolen cars in a single day.
Twenty-seven-year-old Jason Liam Christian of Queen’s Pier Road in Ramsey appeared before magistrates at Douglas courthouse.
He pleaded guilty to two charges each of taking cars without consent and driving whilst disqualified, while two counts of having no insurance were withdrawn.
Prosecution advocate Rebecca Cubbon told the hearing Christian took a blue MG car from St Paul’s Square in Ramsey in the early hours of 26 September.
When that vehicle ran out of petrol in Bride, he abandoned it and stole a green Land Rover.
CCTV from a Kirk Michael filling station showed Christian behind the wheel, and photos uploaded to social media site Snapchat showed him in both stolen vehicles with an 18-year-old woman.
The court heard Christian had a number of previous convictions, and had served a jail sentence in the past for driving while disqualified.
Magistrates committed him to the Court of General Gaol Delivery for sentencing, and he’ll appear in court again on 11 November.
