Set to be shut until 1600
Police now say the Mountain Road will remain shut until at least 4pm.
They'd previously said it would be open by 2pm - but persistent, heavy sleet and snow has forced officers to keep the route sealed - with a snow plow on standby for when conditions ease.
Gritters have also been out on other Island roads, including the Sloc Road and Creg ny Baa Back Road this morning.
A weather warning from the Met Office is forecasting continued adverse weather until the early hours of Thursday morning.
Approach to Brandywell, as you can see visibility is pretty poor at present. Snow Plowing to commence shortly.
