Roads close at 1pm for course setup
Homemade racers will be pitting their wits - and their kits - against each other in this afternoon's Douglas Soapbox Derby (Sat 1).
Now in its fourth year, the event brings enthusiasts of all abilities to run DIY cars down a steep town centre course, negotiating bends and jumps along the way.
The track, starting from Upper Church Street across Athol Street and down to Barrack Street, will be closed to the public between 1pm and 11pm.
Organiser Elliott Moore says the Derby attracts all manner of competitors, from the formidable to the downright foolish.
The free event gets underway at 6pm.
