The Island’s director of social services is to retire next month after an overhaul of the Department of Social Care.
Andrew Swithinbank will leave his post on March 31 after eight years within government, four as deputy director and the last four as director.
The reorganisation, described by the department as a move to reduce costs and slim down its management structure, was outlined to staff this morning.
From April, department chief executive Chris Corlett will have direct responsibility for children and family, adult and mental health services.
He insists there’ll be no change to the social services provided to the public.
