Ministers long aware of problems
Securing the short-term future of the Island's Family Library was something government ministers felt strongly about.
Treasury Minister Alfred Cannan this week revealed government had pledged £100,000 to allow the service - and that of the mobile library - to continue.
It followed a commitment from the wealthy Scheinberg family, which reduced the shortfall the charity had been facing.
Chief Minister Howard Quayle said the 'social and community value' of the service were key factors in the decision.
