Cretney calls for 'sensible compromise'
A Member of the Legislative Council has called for 'sensible compromise' over proposed changes to government departments.
Speaking ahead of today's Tynwald debate on the Lisvane report, David Cretney says some branches need more political members than others to fulfil operations effectively.
The report contains eleven recommendations designed to improve the function of the Manx parliament, one of which is limiting the memberships to one MHK per department.
Mr Cretney says in some cases, this wouldn't work:

Fast-tracked legislation was designed to close 'loophole of expanding problem'
Farmers 'feeling the squeeze' more than ever says MNFU
MLC given leave to introduce bill to tackle gazumping and gazundering
Media Isle of Man 'investigating' after 560 newspapers found dumped
Children urged to put best foot forward for charity
