Group will examine maintenance of more than 1,350 homes
The Department of Infrastructure Housing Division and public sector housing providers have formed a joint group to try and improve housing services in the south of the Island.
The Southern Area Housing Working Group is exploring ideas such as a shared waiting list and shared allocations, meaning that in future applicants may have more choice over the number, location and type of property available to them.
Commissioners from Arbory, Castletown, Malew, Port Erin, Rushen and Santon along with the DOI have signed Terms of Reference and are now working to make the idea a reality.
Applicants on respective waiting lists are being contacted this week to explain the procedures.
The group will also examine the repairs and maintenance of more than 1,350 dwellings in the south of the Island.
