Treasury minister says plans for the Mersey are in the early stages
The Steam Packet is expected to submit an objection to plans to implement tidal power generators in Liverpool according to the treasury minister.
Alex Allinson has responded to a written Tynwald question.
The Mersey Tidal Power Project is hoping to install tidal barrages in the River Mersey.
An initial community consultation on the plans is currently underway.
Dr Allinson says they are at an early stage and it's not possible to accurately determine any impact of the draft proposals on Steam Packet operations.
However he understands that as a user of the Mersey Estuary the company will submit a paper in due course objecting to the plans.
