
Speaker of the House of Keys Steve Rodan has raised the issue of the Common Travel Area with the Irish Taoiseach (prime minister) Enda Kenny.
Mr Rodan is in Cork for a meeting of the British-Irish Parliamentary Assembly.
The CTA has been in the news in recent years, with suggestions that border controls could be introduced within it.
The issue has been on the back burner for some time, but Mr Rodan says he was heartened to hear work was going on between the Irish and British governments (listen to audio file below):
