Official: UK retailer buys out Strand Centre
It's official - another major UK retailer is coming to the Island.
The Strand Shopping Centre in Douglas has confirmed today it's been bought out by Sports Direct.
The 40,000 square-foot complex has been purchased from former owner Brian J Eaton Ltd, for an undisclosed sum.
It's believed Sports Direct, which operates around 670 stores worldwide, has plans to regenerate the centre, in addition to opening its own branch spanning 'multiple' retail units.
Strand Centre general manager Louise Wyman said the retailer is looking forward to arriving:
