The Steam Packet say they've reviewed their opportunities for day trips and have introduced a special rate for a car plus four passengers which will return from Heysham the next day.
Chief Executive Mark Woodward says using the Ben-my-Chree for an extended day in Merseyside is not possible as it has been confirmed there are no slots suitable for a day return, and using the Superseacat Two would lead to the danger of weather disruption which would compromise reliability.
However, they can now offer a day trip rate with passengers travelling from the Island on the 8am sailing to Birkenhead and returning early the next morning on the 2.15am sailing from Heysham.
There are also Christmas Shopping Special rates for foot passengers with sailings at the same time on Saturday morning and return on Sunday at 0215am or the 2pm Sunday service from Twelve Quays, Birkenhead.
A free courtesy bus will be provided to transfer passengers between Liverpool and Heysham.
Further details can be obtained from the Steam Packet.
