A local paraplegic man is due to undergo pioneering stem cell therapy in Germany today (Monday).
Chris Walmsley was left disabled and with brain damage when he was hit by a car five years ago.
The 33-year-old's family has since been fundraising for his ongoing treatment, and in the last four months collected more than £27,000 for today's procedure.
Although there are no promises with the therapy, doctors hope it will impove his swallowing and relax his arms.
