Chamber of Commerce challenges blueprint
The Island's Chamber of Commerce is calling on government to look again at predictions for population growth used in a major plan for housing.
Ministers say the Island's working population needs to increase by up to 1000 per year, to achieve economic growth targets in the Vision 2020 policy agreed by Tynwald.
But according to the Chamber, the Draft Strategic Plan which will provide a blueprint for future housing, does not cater for this growth.
The Chamber's challenging crucial projections in the plan, before it goes to public inquiry later this month.
Chief Executive Jane Dellar says the plan is not keeping pace with political aspirations:

Rapist who 'terrorised' his victim told his sentence was 'entirely justified'
Discovery of oiled birds 'makes a mockery of our biosphere status'
Charges now in place for those sending parcels to the EU
Creamery managing director to leave role
Fast-tracked legislation was designed to close 'loophole of expanding problem'
