Health Minister David Anderson says a new decade-long health strategy wasn’t produced to save money, but its message could help do just that.
The 40-page document from the Department of Health was launched yesterday (Monday) and will see more care offered by GPs and community health workers rather than in hospital.
One of its primary messages is persuading people to live healthier lives, by avoiding smoking and obesity.
Mr Anderson says a healthier population would put fewer demands on his department:

Immigration changes designed to stop exploitation by 'bad eggs'
Contingency budget for horse tram tracks 'significantly increased'
Nursery group wants to 'bridge the gap' for families of two-year-olds
Orchestra hoping to attract 'different kind of audience' at next concert
Planning Committee says temporary dental unit at hospital is 'government failure'
