A Port St Mary student says she feels honoured to have been selected for a scholarship to Idaho University in the United States.
Kirsty Pendlebury, who is currently in her last year of studying meteorology at Reading University, will spend the next academic year at the college thanks to the Ella Olesen Scholarship.
It's a legacy of the late Miss Olesen, a former registrar of Idaho University, who set it up because of her Manx ancestry. The scholarship is awarded to one female Manx student every year.
Kirsty (pictured) says she is particularly looking forward to learning about weather and climate from a different perspective and hopes the trip will enhance her knowledge of global conditions and climate change.
