Many getting vaccination jabs before leaving Island
Youngsters preparing to leave the Island for university are taking notice of meningitis warnings.
Last week it was reported that the number of people suffering from a fatal strain of the illness is on the rise in the UK, and students are believed to be at the greatest risk of contracting it.
It's caused by viral or bacterial infection - symptoms include an intense headache and fever, sensitivity to light and rigid muscles.
Letters have been sent out sixth-form pupils across the Island urging them to contact their GPs to arrange vaccination.
