Year 12 pupils will work with peers from 20 countries
Two secondary school students are heading for the USA to take part in the 2023 United Space School in Houston, Texas.
Year 12s Daniel Comley, from Ramsey Grammar School, and David Sargent, from QE2 High School in Peel, are the latest recipients of sponsorship from the ManSat Group after winning an essay competition.
They'll be accompanied on the trip by Ciara Sowerby who won a scholarship in 2017 and who returns as a mentor.
Daniel and David will work with peers from 20 countries to plan a simulated, crewed mission to Mars - supported by NASA astronauts, engineers and scientists.
To help them prepare the two have completed assignments set by the space school which involve solving problems covering all aspects of space flight, including habitat design, sustainability, legal issues, budgeting and orbital mechanics.
The project runs from the 16 to 31 of July.
