Students' salute to wartime sacrifice
Hundreds of school pupils will be touring a unique exhibition about the two World Wars this week.
Year nine students at Ballakermeen have been studying the conflicts throughout the summer term - and yesterday (Sunday) their work went on public display.
A full size replica First World War trench is the centrepiece indoors, while students renacted wartime roles, from gunners to nurses, in authentic period costume.
Yesterday's VIP opening saw students perform a drama featuring the Christmas Day football match between the trenches.
Head teacher Adrienne Burnett says the students have learned much about the wars - and how to stage an eye-catching event.
But she said most of all, their empathy had been engaged:
