Two firefighters were treated at the scene for minor injuries.
The First and Rescue service says substantial damage was caused by a blaze at Castletown & Malew Fire and Ambulance station.
The large fire saw the main road outside the airport closed as crews battled the blaze and two firefighters were treated at the scene for minor injuries.
Beginning at around 5pm within the building, a fire alarm in the building alerted a member of staff who discovered a fire in the main appliance room, which houses two appliances.
At the height of the incident, nine fire appliances were committed on scene, including a turntable ladder and a specialist appliance from the Airport Fire and Rescue Service, along with several support vehicles and officers.
Police Officers and the Ambulance Service also attended the scene.
A spokesperson said that substantial damage has been caused and added: "An assessment is currently underway to understand what impact this will have on the fire and ambulance station's operational capability."
Chief Fire Officer Mark Christian has said fire cover in the Castletown and Malew area was maintained at all times throughout this incident and will continue to be maintained in the coming days and weeks.
Fire cover offered to the Airport FRS will also continue to be maintained.
