94 percent of allowable catch already landed
After one of the best queen scallop seasons in recent times more than 94 percent of the total allowable catch has already been landed.
Figures from the Scallop Management Board show that more than 1,000 tonnes of the shellfish had been brought ashore by the end of September.
The original catch limit of 726 tonnes was raised 10 percent to 1,144 tonnes in week seven.
This was based on the quality and quantity of catches landed in the early part of the season.
