A 64-year-old Onchan woman took her own life after suffering depression, an inquest heard this afternoon (Wednesday).
The body of Anthea Breakey was found in her car in January, with a pipe running from the exhaust through a window.
A post mortem examination showed she died of asphyxia after inhaling carbon monoxide.
Evidence showed Mrs Breakey had been depressed since the death of her husband eleven years ago and had tried to kill herself before.
The mother-of-two was also suffering with severe back pain and had given up the nursing job she loved.
Mrs Breakey left a note saying she had been depressed for a long time and didn't think medication could help.
Coroner of inquests Alastair Montgomerie read a statement from her eldest son who said he took comfort in the fact his mother was no longer in any pain.
Mr Montgomerie recorded a verdict of suicide.
