Sombre anniversary for deadly blaze
Commemorations will take place today to mark 45 years since the Summerland disaster.
For the first time, a minute's silence will be held on the site.
Longstanding campaigner Tina Brennan will lead proceedings after being granted permission to venture onto the site, which has been closed since 2006, by the Department of Infrastructure.
Mayor of Douglas Jon Joughin will also be joined by council members to lay a wreath at the nearby Kaye Memorial Gardens.
Both services will begin at 7pm.
Those wishing to pay their respects are welcome to attend.
The then-state-of-the-art leisure complex set ablaze in 1973, claiming 50 lives and injuring 80.
It's considered one of the worst losses of life to fire in post-war Britain.
