Council labels work as 'highly significant' investment
It's thought it will cost more than £200,000 to repair the walls of the sunken gardens on Douglas promenade.
Douglas Borough Council's now been given the go-ahead to begin repairs after work was delayed for a structural engineer assessment and insurance review.
Strong winds during Storm Barra, earlier this year, brought down sections of the wall causing damage to the children’s play area and flooding in the gardens - both of which have since been fenced off to the public.
No time-scale has been given yet but Council Leader Claire Wells says the work is ‘highly significant’ adding they’re committed to getting it 'done as quickly as possible’.
