Rainfall half what it usually is
October was sunnier, warmer and much, much dryer than normal, according to figures released by the Met Office.
Total rain for the month was just over half of what normally falls, while there were 128 hours of bright sunshine recorded, the third highest for the month on record.
The first of the month saw a record-breaking 10.6 hours of sunshine.
The warmest day was October 6, when it got up to just over 17 degrees celsius.
There were no gales recorded, while the mean wind speed was four miles per hour less than usual.
