Supermodel Elle Macpherson has won the right to appeal against a Manx judgment over Kaupthing, Singer and Friedlander.
The Australian, known as The Body, had been ordered to pay £8 million to the liquidators of the Manx arm of the bank – who refused to offset £2.5 million a company owned by the Australian held with KSF IOM.
The 49-year-old had fought the decision in the Manx courts, but lost the case before the Staff of Government Division, having previously won at first instance, before Deemster Moran QC.
However, she applied to appeal to the Privy Council – and could now see the Manx Appeal Court’s decision overturned.
The Judicial Committee of the Privy Council is the highest court of appeal for the crown dependencies, including the Isle of Man.
