If you think the summer has been a washout, you're right!.
Figures released by the Met Office show it has been the wettest since 1985.
August rainfall totalled over 147 millimetres (almost six inches) making the month the wettest since 1956. The worst day was the ninth when over 40mm of rain fell, leading to localised flooding problems in some areas.
Temperatures were also poor with an average of just over 17.5C and 20C only being reached on one day, the 28th.
There were only 120 hours of sunshine making it the second dullest on record.
The combined rainfall figures for June, July and August make Summer 2008 the wettest for over 23 years.
